Description:
SN 500 is a Group I solvent neutral base oil produced through atmospheric distillation, solvent extraction, dewaxing, and hydrofinishing of crude oil. With a higher viscosity than SN 150 or SN 350, SN 500 is ideally suited for blending high-performance lubricants that require enhanced film strength, load-carrying capacity, and thermal stability. It is a key component in formulating heavy-duty engine oils, gear oils, and industrial lubricants.
Production Process:
- Solvent Extraction: Removes polar compounds and improves oxidative stability
- Solvent Dewaxing: Enhances low-temperature performance
- Mild Hydrofinishing: Improves color, stability, and purity
Key Technical Properties (Typical Values):
- Viscosity @ 100°C: ~10.5–11.5 cSt
- Viscosity Index (VI): 95–105
- Flash Point (COC): >230°C
- Pour Point: -6°C to -9°C
- Color (ASTM D1500):0–L3.0
- Sulfur Content: >0.03%
- Density @ 15°C: ~0.885 kg/L
- Aromatic Content: Moderate – improves additive solubility
