Description:
Group III – 3 cSt is an ultra-light, high-purity base oil produced through severe hydrocracking and hydroisomerization of paraffinic crude. With its very low viscosity, extremely high viscosity index, and exceptional oxidative stability, this base stock is ideal for formulating fuel-efficient, low-viscosity lubricants. Its purity, low volatility, and excellent cold flow behavior make it an essential component in next-generation passenger car motor oils, particularly those meeting the latest API SP, ILSAC GF-6/7, and OEM fuel economy specifications.
Production Process:
Severe Hydrocracking & Hydroisomerization: Removes impurities and restructures molecules for optimal thermal and oxidative stability
Hydrofinishing: Enhances clarity, stability, and performance consistency
High-Pressure Fractionation: Ensures precise viscosity control for ultra-light cuts
Key Technical Properties (Typical Values):
Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C: ~3.0–3.4 cSt
Viscosity Index (VI): ≥ 120 (often 125–135)
Flash Point (COC): >190°C
Pour Point: -24°C to -30°C
Color (ASTM D1500): L0.5 (water-clear)
Sulfur Content: ≤ 0.03%
Saturates: ≥ 90%
Oxidation Stability: Outstanding
Volatility (NOACK): Very low – supports fuel economy and low oil consumption
Benefits:
Enables formulation of low-viscosity SAE grades such as 0W-16, 0W-20, and 5W-20
Improves fuel economy through reduced internal friction and lighter viscosity
Excellent oxidative and thermal stability for extended oil life
Outstanding cold temperature performance for reliable cold starts
Low volatility reduces oil consumption and emissions
Water-clear and highly consistent – ideal for precision blending and advanced formulations
Applications:
Passenger Car Motor Oils (PCMO): Especially for modern gasoline and hybrid engines requiring ultra-low viscosity oils
Synthetic Engine Oil Blends: Used as a key component in full-synthetic and synthetic technology lubricants
Transmission Fluids: Where low viscosity and thermal stability are critical
Hydraulic and Circulating Oils: For systems operating in cold environments or requiring thin-film lubrication
Fuel Economy Oils: Engine oils designed to meet or exceed API SP, ILSAC GF-6A/B, and future GF-7 standards
