Description:
Group III – 6 cSt is a medium-viscosity, synthetic-grade base oil produced through advanced hydrocracking, hydroisomerization, and hydrofinishing of high-quality paraffinic feedstocks. With a viscosity around 6 centistokes at 100°C and a very high viscosity index (typically above 130), this base stock delivers outstanding oxidation stability, thermal resistance, and low volatility — making it ideal for a wide range of premium automotive and industrial lubricants, including those marketed as full synthetic.
Production Process:
Severe Hydroprocessing: Removes sulfur, aromatics, and other impurities to create a highly saturated, stable structure
Isomerization & Fractionation: Reshapes molecular structure for superior cold performance and viscosity control
Hydrofinishing: Enhances long-term oxidation resistance, color, and blend uniformity
Key Technical Properties (Typical Values):
Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C: ~5.7–6.3 cSt
Viscosity Index (VI): ≥ 130
Flash Point (COC): >230°C
Pour Point: -21°C to -27°C
Color (ASTM D1500): L0.5 (water-clear)
Sulfur Content: ≤ 0.03%
Saturates: ≥ 90%
Volatility (NOACK): Very low
Oxidation Stability: Outstanding, suitable for extended drain applications
Benefits:
Excellent thermal and oxidative stability for high-temperature operation
Superior film strength and viscosity retention under mechanical stress
Low volatility helps reduce oil consumption and exhaust emissions
Outstanding cold-start performance, enabling use in a wide temperature range
