Description:
PAO 2 is a synthetic hydrocarbon base oil belonging to the Group IV classification under API guidelines. It is produced via the oligomerization of alpha-olefins, typically 1-decene, followed by hydrogenation. With a kinematic viscosity of ~2 cSt at 100°C, PAO 2 offers excellent thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and low volatility, making it ideal for applications requiring low-viscosity, high-performance lubrication.
Thanks to its outstanding low-temperature fluidity and shear stability, PAO 2 is often used in formulations where fuel economy, cold-start performance, and extended oil life are critical.
Key Performance Features:
Excellent oxidation and thermal stability
Very low pour point for enhanced low-temperature performance
Low volatility – reduces oil consumption and emissions
High viscosity index – maintains consistent viscosity across temperature extremes
Fully compatible with Group III, IV, V base oils and most additive systems
Non-toxic, colorless, and odorless
Applications:
Fuel-efficient engine oils (PCMO and HDEO)
Electric vehicle (EV) fluids
Compressor and turbine oils
Hydraulic fluids requiring low start-up viscosity
Grease manufacturing (as synthetic base)
Industrial lubricants where shear stability is essential
