Infineum M7233 is a high-performance, zinc-free and chlorine-free additive package developed by Infineum for the formulation of monograde and multigrade crankcase lubricants for medium-speed railroad diesel engines and similar heavy-duty applications. Designed for use in SAE 40, SAE 20W-40, and Railroad Multigrade engine oils, Infineum M7233 is fully approved by both General Electric (GE) and General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) for railroad diesel engine service. It also meets the performance requirements of LMOA Generation 5, GE Generation 4 Long Life, API CF, CF-2, CD, and Caterpillar 3600 specifications.
Formulated for use with approved base oils and viscosity modifiers, Infineum M7233 delivers outstanding wear protection, oxidation resistance, deposit control, and engine cleanliness under the severe operating conditions encountered in railroad diesel engines. Its low-zinc, chlorine-free chemistry provides reliable long-term performance while supporting mixed-fleet applications where API CF, CF-2, and CD performance is required.

- General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) locomotive engines
- Stationary medium-speed diesel engines
- Heavy-duty industrial diesel engine lubricants
- Mixed-fleet diesel engine oil formulations requiring API CF, CF-2, and CD performance
Recommended Dosage
Typical treat rates range from 12.2% to 17.3% by weight, depending on the target viscosity grade, formulation requirements, approved base oil selection, and desired performance level. Approved viscosity modifiers should be incorporated where required for multigrade formulations.
Blending and Storage
- Blend using approved base oils and viscosity modifiers under controlled manufacturing conditions.
- Avoid localized overheating during blending, particularly when agitation is limited.
- Use electrical, steam, or hot-oil heating systems with a self-limiting maximum temperature not exceeding 120 °C (250 °F).
- Minimum loading/unloading temperature: 45 °C (113 °F)
- Maximum loading/unloading temperature: 55 °C (131 °F)
- Protect the product from contamination and excessive heating to prevent the release of odorous sulfur compounds.
- Follow standard lubricant additive handling and storage practices.
